Have you been asked, “can these cutters be autoclaved?” What is autoclave? Autoclaving is a method of cleaning and sterilizing instruments using extremely high heat and steam. When heat and steam are used on a pair of carbon based cutters or pliers the instrument is stripped of its protective oils and coatings, this opens the door to rust.
The Excelta 4 Star hard wire cutters are designed to hold up under autoclaving. These cutters were originally designed for use in the dental industry, where autoclaving of instruments is a standard practice. The Excelta 1003EH, 1006EH and 1200EH are made of stainless steel, with hard chrome plating and hi-speed tool steel inserts on the cutting blades designed for cutting Nitinol, Elgiloy, Tungsten and many other types of hard wire, with a cutting capacity of .006" to .028". Best of all, when used in clean rooms they can be autoclaved at the end of the day.
